What is a Pick and Place Machine?

The pick and place machine is actually a fine industrial robot. It gives full play to the high-tech effects of modern fine machinery, electromechanical integration, photoelectric integration and computer control technology to complete high-speed, high-precision and intelligent electronic assembly production equipment. According to the technical requirements of assembly and the design concept of manufacturers, people have launched pick and place machines with different functions, different uses and different grades.

Ⅰ. What is a pick and place machine?

A pick and place machine is a general term for pick and place equipment in the industry today. In the early days, people called the pick and place equipment as pick-and-place equipment or pick and place equipment according to the basic function of pick and place. Some people also called it component mounter. The turret-type high-speed pick and place machine, which is popular in the 1980s and 1990s, is specially used to pick and place chip components. Ⅱ. The pick and place machine is composed of the following 5 main parts

1. Identification system of identification and monitoring system

During operation, the pick and place function and orientation of the identified objects (PCBs, feeders and components) are confirmed.

Monitoring sensors: The pick and place machine is equipped with various types of sensors, such as pressure sensors, negative pressure sensors and orientation sensors, which are like the eyes of the pick and place machine and monitor the normal operation of the machine. The more sensors are used, the more intelligent the pick and place machine is.

2. Rack case of mechanical system

It is the "skeleton" and "skin" of the pick and place machine. It supports all transmission, positioning and transmission mechanisms. It also maintains various mechanical and electrical hardware of the machine.

Transmission mechanism: Its function is to send the PCB to the predetermined position, and then transmit it to the next process after the pick and place is completed.

Servo positioning system: Its first function is to support the pick and place head and ensure the precise positioning of the pick and place head. The second is to support the PCB carrying platform and complete the movement of the PCB in the XY direction. This system determines the pick and place accuracy of the machine.

3. Feeder system

The SMC/SMD is provided to the pick and place head according to a certain law and order for accurate picking, so it occupies a large number and orientation in the pick and place machine.

4. Computer hardware and software system

It is the control and operation system of the pick and place machine, which directs the effective operation of the pick and place machine.

5. Pick and place head system

The pick and place head is a key component of the pick and place machine. After it picks up the components, it can automatically calibrate the position under the control of the proofreading system and place the components in the specified position accurately.
